SIBU: Traffic flow at Brooke Drive was held up for an hour after the car of an 80-year-old man was involved in an accident outside Lane 7 yesterday morning.
According to eyewitnesses, the accident occurred at 10am as the elderly driver drove out of Lane 7 into the main road without stopping to check for oncoming traffic.
His car slipped into the right lane at Brooke Drive, but collided with a car behind.
The aged driver could only watch as his car went on to ram a lamp post on the road divider.
The front of his car was badly damaged.
Although not hurt, the driver was in a state of shock and sat at the roadside as policemen probed the accident.
His wife, 71, sitting beside him in his car was slightly hurt on the forehead.
The driver and passengers in the other car were unscathed.
