KUCHING: A 33kV distribution tower was knocked down by a 4WD vehicle in front of 101 Commercial centre (road between City One to Airport) this morning around 7 am.
According to a statement by Sarawak Energy Berhad ( SEB) immediate action has been taken to move the tower from the road.
As there is a need to also secure the other two adjacent towers to prevent subsequent collapse, SEB needs at least five hours to do so and hopes to clear the work by 2pm today.
No injury is reported and traffic police are already on site to manage the situation.
This collapsed distribution line acts as an alternative back up for fast restoration of power in the event of a fault at the new cable from the Bypass 33KV substation to Airport 33kv Substation.
