Former Kemas kindergarten teacher claims trial to abusing pupils

KUALA LUMPUR: A former Kemas kindergarten teacher pleaded not guilty in the Ampang Magistrate’s Court here yesterday to three charges of abusing three boys at the kindergarten last year.

Ruziathul Akmar Mohd Hamzah, 34, was charged with abusing the three boys, aged five and six, at the Kemas kindergarten in Pandan Indah 6/8, Ampang between January to Oct 1, 2015.

She was charged under Section 3 (1) (a) of the Child Act 2001 which carries a fine not exceeding RM20,000 or a maximum jail term of 10 years, or both, upon conviction.

Magistrate Mohamad Firdaus Sadina Ali allowed Ruziathul Akmar a bail of RM3,000 for each charge with an additional condition that she must not approach the victims or their families.

The court fixed June 17 for mention.

Deputy public prosecutor Norhashimah Hashim appeared for the prosecution while the accused was unrepresented. — Bernama
