IEM Miri to hold workshop on Enhanced PI Process

MIRI: The Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM, Miri Branch) is to hold an ‘Awareness Talk and Professional Interview (PI) Workshop on Enhanced PI Process’ on June 9 at IEM Miri branch training room from 2pm to 5pm.

The workshop to be conducted by key speaker Dato Ir Ahmad Murad Omar will cover ‘Enhanced Professional Interview Process; Guidelines for Professional Interview’ as well as presentation in an interview including submission of reports, oral interview and essay writing.

The final part of the workshop will cover ‘regulations of professional conduct’.

Ahmad Murad graduated from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in Mechanical Engineering with MSc in Business Engineering from Warwick University UK majoring in Business Engineering Management.

He served the Royal Malaysian Navy for 32 years and retired as a First Admiral in 2006. He then became the chief operations officer and acting CEO of MTI Sdn Bhd, an engineering company for three years.

Currently, he is the chairman of four companies dealing with six sigma consultancy on process improvement and project management, trading, training, shipbuilding design and ship repair maintenance and logistics.

On the international arena, Ahmad Muard is a council vice president and fellow of the Institution of Marine Engineering Science & Technology based in London.

He is also a Fellow of IEM, a professional engineer with the Board of Engineers Malaysia, chartered engineer and chartered marine engineer both registered with the UK Engineering Council.

Recently he was appointed as an adjunct Professor with the Faculty of Maritime Studies & Marine Science, University Malaysia Terengganu.

Ahmad Murad presently sits in two national level committees responsible for the development of the National blueprint for marine industry (in collaboration with MIGHT) and the National Ocean Policy (in collaboration with Mosti).

The workshop for ‘would-be’ corporate members is approved by the Board of Engineers, Malaysia with participants earning three PDP (Professional Development Programme) hours.

“All graduate members with more than three years’ experience are encouraged to attend the workshop and to apply for the Professional Interview after the workshop,” said Ir Professor Dr Lau Hieng Ho chairman of IEM, Miri branch.

The registration fee for IEM members is RM20 per person and RM65for non- members.
