Two road crash victims admitted to hospital

KUCHING: Two men were admitted to hospital, one of them in serious condition, following an early-morning head-on collision between two cars yesterday.

Three other passengers in one of the cars, including a four-year-old girl, were slightly  injured  and were also sent to Sarawak General Hospital  (SGH)  for treatment.

The incident took place in Matang around 3.30am when a Proton Wira driven by a 29-year-old man, who was with three members of his family, crashed into a Perodua Kenari driven by a 26-year-old man.

The former was heading towards the city while the latter vehicle  was  heading  in the direction of Matang Jaya.

A team of firemen were called to the scene after the public realised both drivers were pinned to their seats.

It took several minutes to extricate the victims before an ambulance transported the injured to the hospital.

The 29-year-old was subsequently  admitted into the Intensive Care Unit while the 26-year-old was treated for a broken leg.
