KUCHING: The Ford Fiesta has already registered more than 50 bookings throughout Sarawak on the day of its launch, says Sime Darby Auto Connexion Sdn Bhd (AutoConnexion) Kuching branch manager Law Eng Jin.

The launching which took place at AutoConnexion Kuching’s showroom yesterday received tremendous response from the public. “Even before the launching of the actual date took place, in Kuching itself, we had already secured more than 20 bookings,” said Law.
The Ford Fiesta comes in three variants comprising the five-door hatchback Sport 1.6L Ti-VCT Automatic, 4-Door Sedan LX 1.6L Automatic and the five-Door Hatchback LX 1.4L Manual.
Sime Darby Motors division regional manager for Sarawak Thinagharan Loganathan further said, “Sarawak has a stronger passenger car market. I believe with the entry of this new Ford Fiesta, we will be able to tap into the passenger car segment. We see a huge potential here.”
“Looking at its structure, Ford Fiesta is built with ultra high-strength steel and specially shaped body panels which make the car lighter and tougher, and afford maximum protection for the driver as well as passengers.”
It also offers an Intelligent Protection System (IPS) which compiles a series of measures that work together to deliver incredible levels of occupant safety. The rigid passenger safety cell has energy absorbing crimple zones at both the front and rear to reduce crash impact.
Other items on the equipment list includes ABS with Hill Launch Assist, ESP and TCS, EBD, emergency brake assist, a six-speaker audio system offering Bluetooth/USB/iPod connectivity and Voice Control, dual airbags, Easy Fuel capless refuelling system, Isofix mounting points, power folding side mirrors and 195/50 series rubbers riding on five-spoke 16-inch alloys.
“Performance wise, this new Ford Fiesta comes with a new superb high-tech Ti-VCT engine that delivers a torque of 152Nm @ 4050RPM and horsepower of
120BHP @ 6000RPM. That will translate into a top speed of 190km per hour with 0-100km in just 9.9 seconds,” explained Law.
A wide colour palette is available for the exterior, with Cool White, Mica Black and Metropolitan Grey common to all three models. The manual gets a fourth shade, True Red, while the rest of the sedan’s six colours are made up of Phantom Blue, Sparking Gold and Highlight Silver.

“Buying a car is a one-time experience but after-sales service is what makes the customers come back. Therefore, we are giving three-year or 60,000km free maintenance service and three-year warranty for the buyers. We want our customers to have a peace of mind,” Loganathan concluded.
