KUALA LUMPUR: DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng is confident that the Sarawak National Party (SNAP) and Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) will be able to resolve seats allocation issue in the upcoming Sarawak polls “for the larger interest of reducing Barisan Nasional’s (BN) two-thirds majority.”
He said the opposition should acknowledge each other’s weaknesses and strengths.
“I’m sure if there is a genuine and sincere commitment towards reducing BN’s two-third majority this problems can be resolved,” he told reporters after launching DAP’s fund-raising campaign and mascot for the Sarawak state elections here yesterday.
SNAP president Edwin Dundang said yesterday that there would be no more talks between the Sarawak-based party and PKR, saying he was upset over the failure to reach an agreement on seats allocation.

Dundang also claimed that PKR was being greedy because it also targeted seats from PAS and DAP.
Lim said seats allocation among opposition parties in Sarawak was still being discussed.
The Sarawak state assembly was dissolved today, paving the way for the 10th state election.
Barisan Nasional controls 63 of the 71-seat assembly after Engkilili assemblyman Dr Jonical Rayong Ngipa, who contested on a SNAP ticket in the last state election on May 20, 2006, joined the BN last year.
DAP controls six seats while Parti Keadilan Rakyat and Parti Cinta Malaysia (PCM), through an Independent representative, control a seat each. — Bernama
