KOTA KINABALU: As to who will be appointed to fill the currently vacant deputy chief minister’s post may be decided tomorrow.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman when asked yesterday said he would probably make an announcement on the post after the next State Cabinet meeting.

“I may make an announcement after the cabinet meeting,” he told reporters after the Chief Minister’s Department’s and Finance Ministry’s monthly gathering here.

“The cabinet usually meets weekly every Wednesday but it is up to the Chief Minister to call for the meeting.”

To a question, Musa did not reveal if any Barisan Nasional component party has met up with him to propose any name for the post but said it was common among component parties to request for their members to be considered.

“It is normal for every component party, they do ask for their members to be given the opportunity, and every request will be appropriately considered under the BN spirit,” he said.

The state BN chairman also gave a similar answer when asked about Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) president Datuk VK Liew’s statement on Sunday that the Karamunting constituency has been allocated to LDP since 1999 and should continue to remain so.

“In any matter, we always discuss, we consider under the comradeship of BN,” he said. Former Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Peter Pang, who is the elected representative for Karamunting, said he was looking forward to defend the constituency in the coming general election.

Pang who quit LDP about six months ago joined Sabah Gerakan last week and was dropped from his Deputy Chief Minister’s post.

Asked if there was a need for a state BN meeting to discuss who should be appointed to succeed Pang, he said the coalition’s component parties in Sabah has always conducted meetings to discuss important matters.

“From time to time, if we feel there is something important that we need to discuss, we will call (for meeting)…There is no limit, we can do it many times if we need to and when it’s important,” he said.
