Indonesian woman falls prey to snatch thief

KUCHING: An Indonesian woman fell victim to a snatch thief along Jalan Chan Chin Ann on Thursday night, losing important personal documents and mobile phones in the process.

The woman and her husband, who is a judge, were heading back to the hotel they were staying at around 10pm when the incident happened.

A lone motorcyclist was said to have approached the victim from behind and grabbed her branded handbag before speeding away from the scene.

The incident happened so fast that neither of them was able to get a proper description of the getaway vehicle.

The bag contained the couple’s passports, two mobile phones and a number of other important documents.

In a similar incident, a housewife from Taman Phoning lost RM2,800 moments after withdrawing the cash from a bank in Petanak on Thursday.

The 48-year-old woman was walking back to her vehicle around 12.30pm when a lone motorcyclist made off with her handbag.

The victim, who was not hurt, was also unable to obtain a proper description of the suspect or his motorcycle as the incident happened in a flash.

Both incidents have been reported to the police.
