KUCHING: Burglars are believed to have struck two houses in Kenyalang Park within a short space of time when none of the occupants were at home on Friday.

One of the incidents occured at Lorong 1 of Jalan Chong Kiun Kong which resulted in the loss of a laptop.
According to the owner, he and his family left the house to go shopping at 7.45pm and returned an hour later to discover the break-in.
The middle-aged man said the thieves had cut a hole in his chain-link perimeter fencing and forced open the security grille of a bedroom window to gain entry.
However, he believed their arrival home may have caused the thieves to flee prematurely as only one bedroom had been ransacked.
He added this was the first time in the 30 years that a break-in had taken place, although he was quick to add he had recently heard of similar incidents occuring at several houses in the area.
The second burglary occured at nearby Lorong 6 at a house rented by 11 female departmental store workers.
The modus operandi in the second break-in, which resulted in the loss of a laptop and five mobile phones, suggested the same perpertrators were responsible.
According to the workers, Friday was the only time of the week when their rented house would be empty for most of the day as all of them worked until 10pm.
They also added that three of the five mobile phones stolen were non-functional.
Meanwhile, another burglary on Friday saw four siblings from Taman Stutong Indah lost a laptop, a DVD player and two piggy banks containing about RM100 in total.
The siblings, all in their 20’s, discovered the break-in when they returned from work around 5pm and saw the front door of their house had been forced open.
All three incidents have been reported to the police for investigation.
