KUALA LUMPUR: Tan Chong Motor Holdings Bhd is targeting to enter a new market in the Asean region this year.
Its executive director Datuk Dr Ang Bon Beng said the company was looking into expanding in the region and was currently looking into exploring the market beyond Malaysia.

Speaking to reporters at TCMH Group chairman Datuk Tan Heng Chew’s Chinese New Year Open House in Taman Duta here yesterday, he said the company hoped to improve its performance as the natural disasters that hit Thailand and Japan last year had affected distributors of motor vehicles.

Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and his wife Puan Sri Norainee Abdul Rahman attended the event.

Ang said that the impact on the TCMH group was however minimum and expressed hope that the new “Dragon year will bring prosperity and good luck.”

On the outlook for this year, he said the first half year had been challenging due to the floods in Thailand and that the situation had yet to be normalised.

The TCMH Group commenced business as a small motor vehicle distributor in the 1950s and has grown into a conglomerate involved in a variety of activities ranging from the assembly and marketing of motor vehicles and autoparts manufacturing to property development and trading in various heavy machinery, industrial equipment and consumer products, both locally and abroad. – Bernama
