KUCHING: Distribution of the RM500 vouchers under the 1Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M) initiative is expected to be made soon for the Sri Aman constituency, assured its MP Masir Kujat.
Masir told The Borneo Post yesterday that some 9,000 people in his constituency had successfully applied for the aid thus far.
“My understanding is that the payment would be given out soon. The aid is being sorted out by area.
“Sri Aman constituency covers a big area, and in fact, I had explained to the people during dialogue sessions that they should be patient and not to be alarmed.
“It is impossible to pay everyone at the same time. It has to be done in stages.”
Masir also advised applicants who had yet to be informed of their application status to double check with the Inland Revenue or the district office.
He said sometimes delay in conveying the status to the applications could happen due to technical errors, which needed to be rectified.
“Anyway, the closing date for the BR1M applications is Feb 10, so there is no reason for anyone to panic if they have not received payment.”
A concerned member of the public from Sri Aman had alerted The Borneo Post yesterday that many people in the constituency were a bit edgy as they had not gotten any news about the BR1M, unlike in other parts of the state.
“The RM500 aid represents a lot of money for many families in the rural areas.
“It can be used to cover many expenses.
“We would like to thank the government if we get it.”
