GEORGE TOWN: Thirteen women of foreign nationalities were detained by the Immigration Department in a raid at a karaoke centre near Pulau Tikus early yesterday.
Penang Immigration Deputy Assistant Director Abdul Rahman Hassan said the women, comprising 12 of Chinese nationality and a Vietnamese, were found to have abused their social visit passes by working as guest relation officers (GROs).
He said the raid was conducted at 2am following a tip-off.
“The women, aged 20 to 40, attempted to flee through a secret passage, but their attempt failed as the place had been surrounded,” he said when contacted by Bernama. — Bernama
