KUALA LUMPUR:A moderate earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale hit the Nicobar Islands, India region at 10.57pm Tuesday, the Malaysian Meteorological Department said.
The quake’s epicentre was located at 134km southeast of Car Nicobar Island, India and 726km northwest of Langkawi, Kedah.
It did not pose any tsunami threat, the department said in a statement. –Bernama
