KOTA BAHARU: The setting up of a Rural Transformation Centres (RTC) in Kelantan involving a total cost of RM140 million is proof that the federal government does not marginalise Kelantan from development.

Minister of International Trade and Industry, Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed said the establishment of the RTC in Bandar Baru Tunjong here with six central government agency offices would silence allegations by the opposition that the Barisan Nasional (BN) government was sidelining the state.

“Together with the federal government agency offices, the overall cost comes to RM250 million,” he told reporters after the launching of Bandar Baru Tunjong RTC here yesterday.

The RTC was launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak. Also present were Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Datuk Seri Noh Omar, Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal, Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen and Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein.

About 70,000 people turned up for the launching ceremony. — Bernama
