Saga to roll out English language related activities

SIBU: Sarawak Australian Graduates Association (Saga), Central Region, is set to roll out three English language and education related activities next month to help boost the command of the language among students.

The curtain raiser will be the interschool public speaking contest, slated on July 8 at Wei Kuok Hall, from 8am till 12.30pm, said Saga secretary Tony Hii in a press release received here yesterday.

“The contest jointly organised with Swan City Toastmasters Club is aimed at promoting the usage of English language, and provide students the opportunity to improve their public speaking skills,” Hii added.

Up next was the study pathways for Australian universities.

The event, organised jointly with Global Educational Services (M) Sdn Bhd, is slated for July 14 at Premier Hotel from 5.30pm till 8pm.

Among the courses are Medicine, Pharmacy, Psychology, Business — CPA, Quantity Surveying, Law, Design, Architecture, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical and Food Science, Mechatronic Engineering, Civil Engineering and Culinary Arts.

The presentation will be followed by a fellowship dinner before ending with the sharing by senior students.

The English Song Singing Competition is scheduled for July 15 at Wei Kuok Hall.

Jointly organised with International Music Examinations Board (IMEB), it is aimed at giving young people a platform to showcase their skills.
