The Prime Minister said they were selling idealisms that they purportedly wanted free and fair elections but did not care how this objective was to be achieved.

Speaking at the launching of the Malaysia 4B Youth Movement’s ‘Evolusi Kelab Najib Razak’ (KNR) here yesterday, he said that changes could not be achieved merely by shouting slogans or organising mammoth rallies, but through political leadership that was capable of bringing changes.

“It’s meaningless if we demand for free and fair elections while we organise street riots…we go on riot and attack the police. That is not a good way for us,” he said.

In this context, the Prime Minister believed that members of the 4B Youth movement had idealism, wanted a better future for them, wanted to become youths who could contribute towards national development and be responsible and had noble values in demanding for change in a praiseworthy manner.

Najib said political leadership that was capable of bringing changes was the factor that differentiated a successful nation from one that was a failure.

He said the Barisan Nasional (BN) government wanted to win the election in a free and fair manner and not winning through deceit, and the BN wanted its victory to be achieved through the strong support of the majority of the Malaysians.

Thus, Najib believed that the youths now had reached maturity and had the ability to think in making the right decision when the time came because they were not easily deceived by the sweet promises of the groups who tried to sell their idealisms without showing their weaknesses.

On the ‘KNR 4B’ launched yesterday, Najib said he did not want the youths to give their support to him to the extent of becoming an obsession, but instead gave their support because of their confidence in the current national leadership led by him that could bring major transformation to Malaysia.

“That is better than idolising the leader and carrying the leader blindly, but to have confidence in the values held, confidence in the agenda to be carried out,” he said.

Najib said that only youths who had high and praiseworthy morals could build a bright future and achieve considerable success aspired by the Malaysian people.

He said the morals of youths who would determine the country’s future must be protected and improved to enable Malaysia to continue to achieve transformation and success.

About 12,000 members of the
4B Youth movement attended the
event.

Also present were Youth and
Sports Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek, Melaka Chief Minister who is also the president of the 4B Youth Alumni Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam, and Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister who is also the deputy president of the 4B Youth Alumni, Datuk Seri Noh Omar.
