KUCHING: The state Syariah Court Department received a 5S accreditation from the Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (Mampu) here yesterday.
The certificate of 5S accreditation was presented by Mampu director general Datuk Mohamad Zabidi Zainal, and this was the second 5S accreditation obtained by the Syariah Court after securing its 5S accreditation from the Malaysian Productivity Council in 2008.
According to state Syariah Judge Chief Datu Mohamed Ali Sheriff, the accreditation received in 2008 was the first
ever received by a Syariah Court in the nation.
“Since then, we have led by example so that other Syariah Courts in Malaysia such as the Federal Syariah Court and the Labuan Syariah Court, follow our footstep,” said Ali who elaborated that various agencies had visited them to learn about the 5S practice.
He added that they decided to renew their 5S accreditation through Mampu last year and hope this would influence other Syariah Courts in the state so that all could be accredited under one certificate.
Meanwhile, Zabidi in his speech pointed out that new methods and approaches should be adapted in providing services to the public.
“An innovative transformation which is easy yet practical will enable us to fulfill the needs of the people but still ensure our work method and workflow is not behind,” he said.
Pointing out the fact that the 5S practice will increase productivity through a high level of work performance and environment, he added that the practice will give clients confidence in their capabilities. Stressing that the 5S accreditation effort is a long term investment towards a better organisation, he called for a continuation of such effort to include other Syariah Courts in the nation.
Also present yesterday were State Islamic Council president Datu Putit Matzen and Mampu State director Shahbuddin Omar.
