KOTA KINABALU: The Ministry of Resource Development and Information Technology is testing a pilot training programme to enhance the employability skills of the unemployed.
Its Minister Datuk Dr Yee Moh Chai, who is also Deputy Chief Minister, said the manpower study conducted recently found that the majority of unemployed lack the basic employability skills required by the employers.
He said these skills include communication, self-confidence, team spirit, resume preparation and interview techniques.
“Hence, in order to meet the needs of the employers, the ministry is currently is testing the pilot basic employability skills training programme.
“The programme is free and is open to fresh graduates or high school leavers who are actively looking for a job.
“If found successful, the government will roll it out to a wider target group,” said Dr Yee.
The training package consists of five modules which will be conducted over a five-day period.
Dr Yee said participants are free to select individual module to attend but are advised to complete all five modules within the same session.
The training is conducted by AMC School of Business located at Likas Square Commercial Centre.
