KUCHING – Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP) Tasik Biru information chief Henry Harry Jinep is looking beyond the prospect of being a potential candidate for the Mas Gading parliamentary seat in the coming general election.

Currently, the Putra Sentosa Development Sdn Bhd proprietor prefers to focus on his expanding business.

He said that in the pipeline was a construction project to build in phases, 70 units of two-storey commercial buildings at the Tondong township in Bau near here over the next 10 years.

“My company recognises the economic potential of Tondong, which is only a 20-minute drive from the city, and plans to provide crucial service to locals in the surrounding areas, as well as business ventures for investment there,” he told Bernama here yesterday.

Henry, 45, said 10 units were currently under construction at the two-acre site, adjacent to the Puncak Permai National Service (NS) camp.

The Putra Sentosa NS camp at Sematan, Lundu near here, owned by the quantity surveyor, is the first to have received the ISO 9001:2008 certification for quality management system in Sarawak, besides being the first in the country under the privately-owned camp category.

Apart from the economic spin-offs, as well as job opportunties due to the presence of the NS camp at Tondong, which lies along the Kuching-Bau road, Henry noted the area and its vicinity were expected to see rapid economic growth, upon  completion of a proposed secondary school there.

His other business venture is the RM9 million demolition project involving blasting works on boulders and protruding rocks at the Pelagus Rapids in upper Batang Rajang.

That project was scheduled to be completed by next month’s end, he said.

Despite expressing a desire to pull out of the race to concentrate on his business and look after the welfare of his increasing staff, Henry and Salcra deputy general manager Anthony Nogeh were the two names recommended to the top Barisan Nasional leadership for consideration in the coming general polls. —Bernama
