KUCHING: The outcome of Meluan assemblyman Wong Judat’s application to join Sarawak Workers Party (SWP) will be known this Saturday after party’s supreme council meeting.
“We can’t comment on this matter until the party supreme council meets this coming Saturday to make a decision on his application,” said SWP deputy president George Lagong.
He said only the supreme council, which consisted of not less than 20 leaders, could make a decision on whether Wong, the former Sarawak Progress Democratic Party (SPDP)
vice-president would be accepted by SWP.
“From my own personal viewpoint, I welcome everyone, including Wong, who wants to join the fight with us for our cause,” said Lagong who is also Pelagus assemblyman.
Wong resigned recently from SPDP to make good his vow to contest against Julau MP Datuk Joseph Salang if Parti Rakyat Sarawak nominated the incumbent MP to defend his seat.
Julau parliamentary seat consists of the two state seats of Meluan and Pakan, which is under SPDP president Tan Sri William Mawan .
Wong resigned from SPDP on Aug 7 and he announced that he had submitted his application to join SWP on the same day.
