KUCHING: MAAKL Mutual Bhd (MAAKL) yesterday declared a gross distribution of 3.50 sen per unit for its MAAKL-HDBS Flexi Fund for the financial year ended August 31, 2012.

All unit holders who maintained their units in MAAKL-HDBS Flexi Fund as at August 31, 2012 are entitled to receive the distribution, which represents a yield of 10.32 per cent.

MAAKL-HDBS Flexi Fund is a mixed assets growth fund. The fund seeks to provide unit holders with long-term capital appreciation.

According to Wong Boon Choy, chief executive officer and executive director of MAAKL, “MAAKL-HDBS Flexi Fund is one of the four funds in our highly successful MAAKL Flexi Series which are managed using the multi-manager approach.

“Despite the volatile market conditions, the MAAKL-HDBS Flexi Fund has performed commendably, having delivered a three-year and five-year return of 76.30 per cent and 95.36 per cent respectively as at Aug 17, 2012 and is named Lipper Leaders in Total Return and Consistent Return over the three-year period ended July 31, 2012, according to The Edge-Lipper Fund Table.”

He also added, “Having won the ‘3-Year Best Mixed Asset MYR Flexible Fund Award’ for the second consecutive year as well as being the recipient of the ‘Best Mixed Assets Fund Group Award’ at The Edge-Lipper Malaysia Fund Awards 2012 certainly signifies our firm commitment to provide investors with a reasonable and consistent personal rate of return over the medium- and long-term.

“The Flexi Series continues to be well received by our investors as they are offered the option to diversify their investments with different fund managers, and therefore take advantage of each fund manager’s expertise and experience in managing a flexi fund.

“On top of that, our flexi funds appear to be more resilient in times of market uncertainty due to the flexibility given to the fund managers to reduce the equity exposure.”

MAAKL-HDBS Flexi Fund is designed for investors who seek high capital appreciation and are willing to accept medium to high level of risk. The Fund is also suitable for investors who do not seek a regular income stream and ideally have a medium- to long-term investment horizon of between 3 and 5 years.
