KOTA KINABALU: Parti KITA national cum state chairman Datuk Pengiran Othman Rauf  has a vision for Sabah and it is in the form of a single party government.

The veteran politician also believes that results of the 13th general election will be favourable for Parti KITA as it can form the government and deliver the goods.

“Most importantly we want real changes for the betterment of Sabah,” he said recently.

“Sabah as it once was could become a number one successful state in the nation where people are happy and prosperous. Proper studies must be made as to what is happening in Sabah. Our strengths and weaknesses must be verified soon.

“New plans and new strategies have to be devised and carried out accordingly. Halatuju or ‘Master Plan’ for Sabah has to be devised according to the needs of our state. The commitment of our communities to be united and build the country together is most appropriate and needed in building our Sabah state in particular.

“It’s the people that make up the nation. In any country developed or undeveloped, economy is the most important factor in nation survival. Sabah should move fast not only to improve its economy but to balance its development economically and socially,” Pengiran Othman said.

According to him, the state needs new approaches by increasing the roles of its local citizens giving them every opportunity and support to help themselves and their families.

While accepting the importance of foreign investments in the state, local investors must not be neglected, he said and stressed that studies must be made to enhance their roles in nation building.

“They are the important assets in our economic development and as citizens they deserve our attention and help to make progress. With strong political will and systematic approaches they can become the power house that contributes to nation building.

“We Parti KITA, intend to form the government of the people, by the people and for the people. The rest is up to the Sabahans to help us build and serve the state. The decision is for the voters but the effect is for us all,” he added.

The sad thing about politics, Pengiran Othman lamented, is that it involved a lot of money regardless of its consequences.

“We are a new party and we are concerned. When election is near it cannot be denied money politics breed corruption in many forms and places. Under the circumstances there is no fair play and election becomes the games for the rich.

“Voters’ decision will be unduly influenced by money politics and they cannot vote freely and wisely. This is also the concern of good citizens. Legitimate or otherwise electors should not be subjected to pressure of any form to vote for those taking part in the election.

“This worries some of us who would like to see clean, fair and free election. How can we have good government if it was elected by means of corrupt practices? The vital decisions are for the voters to decide what is good for our country.

“Their wisdom in choosing the good government is very important to our nation including Sahah,” he opined.
