KUCHING: Percetakan Nasional Malaysia Berhad (PNMB), a government-owned printing company, has so far not received any indication from the Election Commission (EC) as to when the 13th general election (GE13) is going to be held.

Despite that, PNMB managing director Izham Yusoff said they had been on standby since the last six months.

“As far as we are concerned, we are ever ready to print the ballot papers for the coming general election the moment we receive the instruction from EC,” he said.

He told reporters this after presenting PNMB Kuching’s business tithe to Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Office (Islamic Affairs) Datuk Daud Abdul Rahman at Baitumal complex here yesterday.

He added that PNMB had in fact already made preparation since many had anticipated that GE13 would be held last June.

“We have to make our preparation early because the moment EC says they want the ballot papers we should be able to deliver them on time and now we are fully prepared for that,” he said.

To a question whether the company had received bookings from individuals for the printing of their campaign materials, Izham said they had not.

“PNMB usually only prints ballot papers and election materials for EC not individuals. For individual political parties, normally they will use the services of private printing companies,” he explained.

Earlier, Izham presented PNMB Kuching’s business tithe amounting to RM57,618.54 to Daud, who received it on behalf of Tabung Baitumal Sarawak (TBS).

The brief but significant ceremony was also attended by PNMB chief operations officer Mohd Yusof, PNMB Kuching manager Taza Musafaruddin Ab Talib and TBS deputy general manager Bolhassan Iskandar Taidi.
