IN A MESS: Scene at the master bedroom after the burglars ransacked it.

KUCHING: A family lost four antique watches valued at about RM60,000, jewellery, an international passport and undisclosed amount of cash in yet another case of housebreaking here.

The owner of the house, who wished to be known only as Ng, discovered their house opposite the One Jaya Shopping Complex at Jalan Song broken into about 9pm Tuesday when he came back from work.

He believed that the thieves could have entered the house through the front door by cutting the padlock and forcing open the master bedroom door.

“At the time of the theft there was nobody at home as my wife and my children are staying at another house in another housing estate,” said the 48-year-old salesman.

Ng said he was told by police that there were other cases of housebreaking almost at the same time on that day in neighbouring Tabuan Laru and Stutong.

He further said his neighbours had complained that almost every weekend a group of youths would hang around at the park nearby, drinking alcohol until early morning and making loud noises, which worried them.

“I hope the police will continue to patrol the area to prevent further house break-ins,” Ng said.
