KUCHING: The Isthmus area will be transformed into a Christmas wonderland next year, said CEO of Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) Datuk Rashid Khan on Sunday.

The Christmas wonderland, said Rashid, would make Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) a hub for the celebration.
“The Isthmus Christmas aims to attract more domestic and overseas visitors to the area,” Rashid said prior to the lighting up of the 15-metre Christmas Tree at BCCK.
He said work on the Christmas wonderland was already underway.
BCCK CEO Paul D’Arcy applauded STB for the sponsorship of the Christmas tree themed ‘Family Fun and Cheer’.
“I am delighted to have the BCCK Isthmus Christmas happening for the second time. I highly encourage everyone to bring their children and relatives to enjoy our Christmas activities and a Christmas buffet dinner at Raintree Restaurant,” said Paul.
He said a Christmas raffle would be organised for visitors to BCCK until Dec 26.
“This will provide visitors a chance to win prizes sponsored by business associates. Proceeds from the raffle will go to Sarawak Autism Association.”
Also on the BCCK calendar for this month’s Christmas celebration are a Kids Christmas Party organised by Krista Taman Centurion on Dec 19 and BCCK’s cooking and baking demo alongside the Level Up Fitness class demo on Dec 22 and 23.
Also during the same date, 20 exhibitors will showcase products and services that make ideal Christmas gifts.
BCCK’s Rain Tree Restaurant is holding a Christmas buffet until Dec 26.
The buffet will cost RM72 nett per adult and RM30 nett per child.
It will include an array of appetizers and salads, assorted cheese platter, pasta stall, shawarma stall, waffle station and an ice-cream stall.
On Dec 25, a Christmas buffet will be served at RM55 per adult and RM27 per child aged five to 12.
