GEORGE TOWN: Police believe arson was the cause of the fire that destroyed seven cars that were parked on the third floor of the Taman Jade flats in Bukit Gambir, here, early yesterday.

Timur Laut police chief ACP Gan Kong Meng said during the 5am fire, a Honda City, Proton Satria and two Perodua Myvi cars were completely destroyed while a Proton Waja, Proton Iswara and Proton Wira suffered minor damages.

“Initial investigations revealed that the fire started from the Honda City because traces of a flammable substance was found on the car,” he told reporters here yesterday.

Gan urged people with information to contact the police to facilitate investigations.— Bernama
