KUCHING: Graduates of Future I-Systems College Kuching (ISK) with Diploma in Hotel Management will have greater employment opportunities in the hospitality industry.

This is made possible following the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the college and Hilton Hotel Kuching here yesterday.

With the MoU, both parties have agreed to form a partnership to develop talent for the hospitality industry apart from providing greater opportunities for ISK graduates to start their career with Hilton Hotel, which has a chain of hotels all over the world.

Held at Hilton Hotel Kuching, the MoU signing ceremony was witnessed by Tourism Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg. I-Systems Colleges Group chief executive officer (CEO) Datuk John Tiong signed on behalf of ISK while Hilton Kuching was represented by its general manager Jon Warmington.

With the pact, the college will start sending its Hotel Management students to Hilton Kuching for a four-month industrial placement for exposure to the hospitality industry.

In his brief explanatory note during the ceremony, Warmington said with the collaboration they will together help young people reach their full potential and have a rewarding career in the hospitality industry.

“I-Systems College Kuching is a remarkably notable academic and training institution and we are committed to work with the college to develop the hospitality programme,” he said.

The Diploma in Hotel Management programme at I-System College Kuching is specially designed to meet the needs of the hospitality industry.

The programme also aims to provide the industry with competent employees who have up-to-date knowledge of operational practices and procedures in food production, food and beverage service, catering, front office operation and housekeeping.

Besides, it also imparts substantial managerial training in sales and marketing, accounting, hotel and catering law, human resource management and nutrition.

The Diploma in Hotel Management is a two and a half year programme which encompasses personal services and hotel management fields so as to prepare graduates to step into their professional life in hotels, resorts, restaurants, business convention centres and other related hospitality fields.

The entry requirement for the diploma is SPM, with three credits in any subjects and a pass in English and Bahasa Malaysia.

Due to limited quota for the coming intake, the college advises students to register as soon as possible to avoid any disappointment.
