KOTA KINABALU: Three police reports have been lodged by the public claiming that the indelible ink, used in the 13th general election, could be washed off completely in less than 24 hours.

The reports were lodged separately by three voters who cast their vote at three different locations in the state capital, at the city police headquarters in Karamunsing around 1pm yesterday.

Bobby Andy Majimbun, 35, who was one of the complainants, said he voted at SK Yick Nam in Inanam on Sunday.

“After taking my shower in the evening, I noticed the ink started to fade and by Monday, it was completely gone.

“According to the Election Commission (EC), the indelible ink is supposed to last for at least three to four days and it is not possible to be cleaned off within a week,” he said yesterday.

Another complainant, Pan Yin Hsia, 34, who cast her vote at SK Bahang in Penampang, said the ink on her left index finger started to fade off on Sunday and was completely gone by Monday evening.

“I only took my shower and did some chores and did not even try to wash the ink off,” she said, adding that she was disappointed at the false claims made by the EC.

The third complainant, Wong Sin Yee, 37, said the use of the indelible ink for this year’s general election, had cost lots of money, especially taxpayers’.

“We, as taxpayers, want the government to refund our money,” she said, adding that she cast her vote at Foh Sang community hall in Luyang.
