KUCHING: CMS Agrotech Sdn Bhd (CMS Agrotech), a wholly-owned subsidiary of CMS Infra Trading (part of the CMS Group), has successfully delivered three tonnes of halal-certified premium organic compost to Giant Hypermarkets.
CMS Agrotech is Sarawak’s first end-to-end producer of compost, manufacturing the compost production machinery (crusher, sieve and mixer) and then also developing the end product ready for sale to consumers.
Arbaeni Askam, director in charge of CMS Agrotech said, “We are proud to have established a close relationship with Giant Hypermarket and we are sure that this partnership will grow even stronger in the future.
“CMS Agrotech manufactures compost through the open windrow method, a traditional and proven way to produce quality compost.
“We also ensure that our compost is of the highest quality by having regular testing of samples in accredited independent labs to ensure that nutrient content, CN ratio, organic matter levels and pH levels are at the optimum standard.”
“The reason for the interest we have received is due to the fact that CMS Agrotech’s Premium Organic Compost is certified halal, made with 100 per cent plant-based compost containing key nutrients such as nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and calcium – key ingredients in manufacturing highly suitable farming and landscaping soil.
“Also, CMS Agrotech employs stringent quality control ensuring that the compost is kept at its optimum pH level of between 6 to 8, over 50 per cent containing organic matter, and free from harmful pathogens and diseases,” he added.
“Going forward, CMS Agrotech will be seeking to also produce organic fertilisers which are expected to be less expensive compared to the chemical fertilisers.”
Agrotech was created as a corporate responsibility project in 2006 to support the protection and preservation of Sarawak’s forests by processing agriculture and timber bio-waste into high-grade end-product compost that was both natural and halal.
Since then however, the growing interest in the product has led to CMS Agrotech becoming fully incorporated in 2009.
The company has since received orders from Singapore and is exploring potential in Peninsula Malaysia and
overseas with particular emphasis on Islamic nations.
CMS Agrotech’s Certified Premium Organic Compost is currently on sale at two Giant Hypermarkets in Kuching and also at its Sibu and Miri chains.
