KUALA LUMPUR: The Ampang Magistrates’ Court yesterday ordered the case of former Internal Security Act (ISA) detainee Yazid Sufaat and his worker who are charge with being members of a terrorist group, Tanzim Al-Qaeda Malaysia, to be transferred to the High Court.

Magistrate Ayuni Izzaty Sulaiman made the decision after allowing the request by deputy public prosecutor Mohd Farizul Hassan Bakri.

However, no date was fixed.

Meanwhile, counsel Wan Hidayati Nadirah Wan Ahmad Nasir, representing the two accused, informed the court that she reserved the right of her clients to challenge the detention and the charge at the High Court.

Yazid, who operates a cafe at the Jalan Duta Court Complex, and his worker, Muhammad Hilmi Hasim, were charged in the court with the offence last May 27.

They were alleged to have committed the offence at a house in Taman Bukit Ampang, Lorong Mutiara 2, Lembah Jaya, Ampang near here between Aug 1, 2012 and Feb 7 this year.

Incidentally, on May 20 this year, the High Court acquitted and discharged the duo and a woman, Halimah Hussein, of a charge of inciting the people in Syria to commit terrorism. — Bernama
