KUALA TERENGGANU: The Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) plans to streamline all public transport management systems in the country.

Chairman Tan Sri Syed Hamid Albar said it will involve taxi service, airport taxi service, car rental service, bus and express bus service.

“It will involve the processing of licence, permit, public service vehicle licence (PSV) and enforcement.

“There is a need to transform public transport. We are gathering feedback from the operators,” he said after visiting Kuala Terengganu bus and taxi stand, here yesterday.

The move was to ensure that the public transport operators are not burdened with bureaucracy that makes it difficult for them to continue operating.

Syed Hamid also said that SPAD was still studying to determine the new fares for express bus and school bus services and would be announcing them soon.

It was taking a little more time to determine the new fares for express bus and school bus to avoid dissatisfaction of many parties.

He warned logging truck drivers to follow traffic regulations adding strict action would be taken against offenders to protect the interest of other road users. — Bernama
