KOTA KINABALU: The police have not received any report of an alleged armed robbery that took place near a bank at Sadong Jaya, here as claimed in the social media.

City police chief ACP Jauteh Dikun said no individual had come forward to lodge a report of the alleged incident, and advised that if indeed there was such a case, the victim should come forward so that investigations could be carried out.

“If there was such an incident as claimed in the social media, then we strongly urge the victim, or anyone with information, to come forward and lodge a police report,” he said when contacted yesterday.

Jauteh was asked to comment after a photo of a person covered in blood, believed to be the victim of the alleged armed robbery, was found circulating on Facebook.

The photo caption also claimed that the victim was stabbed and robbed after withdrawing money from an ATM at Sadong Jaya.

It was said that the photo was posted on Facebook after the victim sought treatment at a nearby hospital.
