KUCHING: Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Sarawak together with Asia Pacific Business Excellence Standard (Apbest) Academy will be hosting the 18th International Conference on ISO and TQM (18-ICIT) at the Riverside Majestic Hotel on April 21 – 23.
Themed ‘Enhancing Growth and Productivity through Best Practices in Total Quality Management (TQM)’ the conference is expected to see 300 delegates from 30 countries.
On Friday, UiTM made a courtesy call on Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar Adenan Satem at Wisma Bapa Malaysia to officially invite him to grace the conference’s opening ceremony on April 21.
According to a statement distributed to the media, the conference will be chaired by Apbest Academy chief executive officer Prof Sam Ho and UiTM Sarawak rector Prof Dato Dr Jamil Hamali.
The objective of the conference is to prepare a forum to identify the contemporary development in theory and practice of TQM from around the world.
The conference will also gauge the impact of ISO and TQM on the quality trend of the new economy.
Meanwhile, the 17th ICIT last year was held in University Technology Sydney, Australia while Kuala Lumpur hosted the ICIT in 2008 (13th ICIT) and 2011 (15th ICIT).
Also expected to attend the conference will be state secretary Tan Sri Datuk Amar Morshidi Ghani, UiTM deputy chancellor Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Prof Ir Dr Sahol Hamid Abu Bakar and Universiti Tenaga Nasional deputy chancellor Prof Dato’ Ir Dr Mashkuri Yaacob.
The public, private companies, government agencies are also invited to attend the conference.
