KUCHING: The malfunctioning of the street lighting along the main road adjacent to Serapi Corner at Kota Sentosa (or Jalan Batu 6), here is posing danger to road users using that stretch of road.
Road users have a reason to be worried for their safety as the malfunction had caused the whole stretch of road to be very dark at night.
Wanting the problem to be looked into, they brought their concern to PKR Women national vice president Voon Shiak Ni.
Voon, who went to the scene recently, said: “We have conducted check on the stretch of road and found that there are 12 street lights that are not functioning. We are not sure how long the street lights have malfunctioned.
“We also noticed that the malfunctioning of street lighting can cause danger to road users using the stretch of road especially at the part of the road where there is a curve.”
Voon, who is PKR Stampin branch vice chairperson, said she was made to understand that the maintenance of the street lighting is the responsibility of Sesco.
“We hope that the maintenance officers from Sesco will go to the scene to check on the street lighting.”
