KOTA BAHARU: A four-year-old boy was stabbed in the left and right side of his waist by a member of his family who went berserk over welfare aid at a house in Jalan Bayam here on Tuesday.
Kota Baharu District police chief ACP Azham Othman said Mohamad Danish Aidid Yahaya was admitted to the Raja Perempuan Zainab 11 Hospital and reported in stable condition, following the 3.15pm incident.
“The incident occurred when the 44-year-old suspect was angered when told that his monthly welfare aid, which was entered into the victim’s father’s account monthly, had not been received yet,” he told reporters here yesterday.
Azham said, uttering threats, the man then rushed to the kitchen for a knife and went to the boy who was playing behind the house and stabbed him on the left side of his waist.
“Then, the suspect who was still in a livid state took the victim into the house and stabbed him on the right side of his waist,” he said.
The victim’s father pulled his son out of the house to save him before requesting a neighbour to call for an ambulance. — Bernama
