LIMBANG: A newly-recruited security guard who has no training in handling firearms caused a scare when he accidently pulled the trigger of a gun inside a bank yesterday afternoon.

Fortunately, no one was hurt in the 4.45pm episode when the bullet hit the floor as the bank was already closed for the day.

Limbang district police chief Superintendent Mohd Bukhori Saffai said the 20-something security guard had earlier been entrusted by his senior to take care of the gun while he (senior) went out shopping.

“The bank security guard is believed to have accidently pulled the trigger. Luckily it hit the floor of the bank and no one was injured as the bank had closed for business.”

The bank managed lodged a police report at about 5.30pm, which led to the detention of the security guard. The case is being investigated under Section 8 and Section 34 of the Firearms Act 1960.
