MIRI: Samling Group of Companies and Yaw Teck Seng (YTS) Foundation will be holding a medical outreach programme at its Baram Central Timber Base Camp from Sept 19 to 21.

Samling Group corporate communication executive Teresa Lee said the programme is part of Samling and YTS Foundation’s continuous Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) effort in bringing medical assistance and to create awareness to communities in the areas of their operations.

“We have successfully organised six programmes since 2009 in collaboration with other selected partners,” she said here yesterday.

This year, Samling and YTS Foundation are collaborating

with Miri Hospital, Miri Divisional Medical Department, Miri Dental Department, Miri Pharmacy Unit and Royal Malaysian Army Force.

She added that they are targeting at least 15 villages comprising the Penans, Kenyahs and Kayans from Ulu Baram and Tinjar for the programme.

Thousands of Orang Ulus in Baram had benefitted from the annual medical outreach programme, which provides free healthcare services such as dental care and other general health screening to the rural folk.
