SHAH ALAM: New Selangor Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali has denied that he was retaining the number of state executive councillors from the three partners of Pakatan Rakyat as in the previous state government administration.

In a post on his Twitter account about an hour after having apparently blamed the media for misreporting, Mohamed Azmin said the news on the composition of the councillors was inaccurate and that the matter was still under negotiation.

“The media reports on the quota of the state executive councillors (from the three parties) are inaccurate because the negotiations are ongoing,” he said in his post.

Earlier, when emerging from the Istana Mestika here at about 4pm after an audience with the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, he had said that he was retaining the number of councillors – four from PAS and three each from DAP and PKR.

He had said that he submitted the names of the councillors to the sultan and the ruler had given his consent. He was seen entering the palace at 2.40pm.

Mohamed Azmin had told reporters then that he would announce the full list of the state executive councillors today.

He said the councillors were scheduled to take their oath of office at 2.45pm. — Bernama
