Lee tells citizens to treasure peace, unity in state

MIRI: People are urged to continue upholding racial harmony and unity in the state.

Assistant Minister of Communications Datuk Lee Kim Shin said such commitment is vital to ensure Sarawak is able to continue with progress and be prosperous.

“Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has been given strong emphasis on the need for the people to preserve the racial harmony and unity in the country.

“Towards this, the prime minister has implemented the 1Malaysia Concept in efforts to further enhance the racial harmony and unity with stressing on equality and fair share in all development opportunities,” he stated when officiating at ‘Love Malaysia Night’ at Kampung Luak on Saturday.

Lee, who is also Senadin assemblyman, pointed out that country fortunately need not have to resort for war to achieve the priceless objective of a peaceful society.

He gave Miri as an example, where it has been developed quickly and vastly from a sleeping fishing village into a vibrant and green resort city now.

Such development, he said is possible due to the unity and peace among people in the state.

Later at the same function, he presented a grant under Minor Rural Project (MRP) allocation worth RM5,000 each to the committee of Istiqamah Mosque of Kampung Luak and the village safety and development committee (JKKK) of Kampung Luak & Lusut.

Also present were Pemanca Abang Mohammad Dato Sri Abang Othman and Penghulu Samion Gani.
