STF trio gunning for honours in Labuan taekwondo meet

SIBU: The Sarawak Taekwondo Federation (STF) is sending three exponents to take part in the Self Defence Labuan Schools Invitational Taekwondo Championship from Oct 25-26.

Coach Michael Wong said this was the first time that STF is sending exponents to take part in the championship in Labuan.

“Hopefully, our fighters can come back with some silverware to showcase,” he said.

Wong Kiang Teck, double gold medallist in the Penang Invitational taekwondo championship and the Asian Zone Inter-State taekwondo tournament, will compete in the Above-18 years old featherweight category.

Andrew Wong Sui Yew, also a gold medallist in the 2013 edition of the Inter Schools taekwondo championship, will compete in the featherweight category of the 14-17 years old group.

Nur Adeeba Syarmean Hasnul will compete in the Under-14 finweight category.

The championship, organised by Labuan Taekwondo Association, had attracted taekwondo exponents from Penang, Perak, Kedah, Terengganu, Sabah and Kuala Lumpur.

STF coach Husin Udin will lead the team for the championship.
