BAU: Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP) will act tough on their representatives and leaders caught sleeping on the job.

Although the party has yet to encounter such a case, its acting president Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing said this is to ensure that they do not slack in serving the people.

He also said the move is to make sure the party lives up to its status as a Barisan Nasional (BN) component party.

“I want to ensure everyone who votes for our party that their areas will prosper and we will do our best to listen to our people. Now firstly to convince everyone, we must first go out to the ground and do our job first, which is meeting the people and listening to their stories,” Tiong added.

He expressed confidence that the party will achieve a majority of at least 1,000 votes in Tasik Biru constituency in the coming state election.

Tiong was speaking to SPDP supporters at a party gathering in Kampung Sudoh, Singai which was organised by SPDP Adis/Singai branch on Saturday.

A crowd of some 1,000 people made up of party members, supporters and locals attended the event.

“Just look at all who attend this function tonight. The venue tonight is full and to me it is a good sign of support from people in Tasik Biru area and SPDP is still popular among the people here,” he enthused.

Meanwhile, he took a jibe at a rival party for claiming the Tasik Biru seat, saying everybody would know which party would be the angrier one come election day.

As far as he was concerned, SPDP reserved the right to call the Tasik Biru seat theirs as the people there voted for the party.
