5 RBAF personnel to participate in Al-Quran Memorising Ceremony

BERAKAS, BRUNEI-MUARA: In an effort to encourage and support officers as well as staff of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) towards elevating the reading of Al-Quran, the RBAF held a Khatam Al-Quran Ceremony in conjunction with the 54th Anniversary of the military, Brudirect reported.

Present was the Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Paduka Seri Md Tawih Abdullah.

The ceremony was also attended by the officers and staff of RBAF.

Such ceremony is hoped to inject the spiritual elements in all levels of RBAF to always be responsible in carrying and performing their duties.

The ceremony coincided with the handing over of the national flag to the country’s contingent that will participate in the 8th Prince Sultan Awards Al-Quran Memorizing Competition for the Military in Saudi Arabia.

Corporal Pg Kamarul Sarip Pg Saripuddin will represent the country in the memorizing of five Juzuk of Al-Quran category.

Meanwhile for the 10 Juzuk, the country will be represented by Lieutenant Pg Khairuddin Pg Tali.

The contingent of five people will depart tomorrow and is accompanied by the officer in attendance and monitoring officer of RBAF as well as supervising officer from the Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Institute of Tahfiz Al-Quran.

The competition which is held every two years will begin this Sunday until January 8 2015.

The RBAF has participated in the competition since 2004.
