MIRI: Seven men, aged between 29 and 50, have been arrested for their suspected involvement in several housebreaking cases in the city.
According to Central police here, all seven are locals and have prior police records.
The raid, which was conducted on a house at Senadin around 12.30am yesterday following a public tip-off, not only saw police apprehending the suspects, but also confiscating five gas cylinders, television sets, air-conditioning units and electrical appliances kept in the house.
It is believed that these were stolen items. Police are investigating.
In an unrelated case, the men-in-blue sent eight men to the lock-up after they were caught during an operation at a rented house in RPR Batu 6 here around 1pm yesterday.
It is suspected that the property was used to conduct illegal cyber gambling.
One of the suspects, a man in his 30s, is believed to be the caretaker of the premises.
Police also seized 14 computer sets and RM730 in cash during the raid.
