Appointment of new ambassadors of Malaysia

PUTRAJAYA: Four new Heads of Mission received their Letter of Credence from Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah on Wednesday, 18 March 2015 at Istana Negara. The Heads of Mission are as follows:

YBhg. Dato’ Zulkifli bin Adnan
Ambassador-designate of Malaysia to the Federal Republic of Germany

YBhg. Dato’ Zulkifli bin Adnan has served in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 1983. Prior to his appointment as the Ambassador of Malaysia to the Federal Republic of Germany, Zulkifli served as Director General of Maritime Department from 2011 to 2015. He served as the Ambassador of Malaysia to Bosnia Herzegovina from 2008 to 2011.

Zulkifli also served at the Embassy of Malaysia in the Hague, Netherlands from 2001 to 2004, at the Permanent Mission of Malaysia to UN in New York, USA from 1993 until 1998 and also at the High Commission of Malaysia in Colombo, Sri Lanka from 1986 until 1988.

YBhg. Dato’ Adnan bin Othman
Ambassador-designate of Malaysia to the Republic of Austria

YBhg. Dato’ Adnan bin Othman started his career at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1984. He served as Ambassador of Malaysia to Kuwait from 2011 to 2015 and as Ambassador of Malaysia to Cambodia from 2005 to 2008.

He has held several key positions at the Ministry, including undersecretary of Africa Division from 2010 until 2011, undersecretary of National Authority for Chemical Weapons Convention in 2011, and Undersecretary of South East Asia Division from 2008 until 2010.

Adnan also served as the Deputy Head of Mission of Malaysia, Embassy of Malaysia in Jakarta, Indonesia from 2004 to 2005. He was also posted to Stockholm, Sweden from 1998 to 2001, Beijing, China from 1994 to 1996 and New Delhi, India in 1994.

Ahmad Rozian bin Abd Ghani
Ambassador-designate of Malaysia to Kuwait

Ahmad Rozian bin Abd Ghani has served in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 1994. Prior to his appointment as Ambassador of Malaysia to Kuwait, he was the Consul General of Malaysia at the Consulate General of Malaysia in Medan, Indonesia from 2012.

He has held several important positions in the Ministry such as Deputy Director General of Policy Planning and Strategic Department in 2012 and as the Undersecretary of Department of Information and Public Diplomacy in 2011.

Ahmad Rozian was also posted to the Embassy of Malaysia in Tokyo, Japan from 2007 until 2011, Embassy of Malaysia in Algiers, Algeria from 2001 until 2003 and Embassy of Malaysia in Budapest, Hungary from 1998 until 2001.

Mohamad Nizan bin Mohamad
Ambassador-designate of Malaysia to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea

Mohamad Nizan bin Mohamad joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1994. Previously, he was the Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Malaysia in Bangkok, Thailand from 2013.

He also served as Chargé d’ affaires of Malaysia at the Embassy of Malaysia in Harare, Zimbabwe from 2010 to 2013. He was also posted to the High Commission of Malaysia in Ottawa, Canada from 2003 until 2007 and to the Embassy of Malaysia in Vientiane, Laos from 1996 to 2000.
