PUTRAJAYA: The system used to store various personal information of individuals for government matters, myIDENTITY, has been further extended to six more agencies, from four agencies previously, said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Joseph Entulu Belaun.

Speaking at a ceremony held in appreciation of the agencies implementing  myIDENTITY as well as to launch myIDENTITY TV Commercial here yesterday, he said a total of 26.03 million myIDENTITY transactions were made since its inception in 2012 until March 31 this year.

Of the total number, nearly 6.3 million transactions were to update addresses, while almost 2.3 million were in updating mobile phone numbers and emails, he said.

The four agencies which had implemented myIDENTITY were the National Registration Department as custodian of personal information of individuals; Road Transport Department; Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia and the Immigration Department, he said.

Folowing encouraging development, myIDENTITY was extended to six other agencies namely, the Election Commission; Educational Services Commission; Department of Social Welfare; Labour Department; National Higher Education Fund Corporation Malaysia and the Royal Malaysian Police, he said.

MyIDENTITY is a system used for storing personal information such as identity card number; name; date of birth; gender; permanent address; correspondence address; mobile phone number and email address of individuals and it may be shared between agencies implementing it. Entulu said myIDENTITY implementation could save consumers’ time when dealing with government agencies implementing the system as they do not need to provide personal information which were already available.

“It makes dealing with the government easier as consumers only need to provide their personal information once and they may update data online. However, apart from information on permanent and correspondence address, phone number and email, other information available in myIDENTITY cannot be changed,” he said. — Bernama
