KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said he does not feel lonely when so many respected international bodies, individuals and institutions have confirmed their belief in Malaysia’s success.
These bodies have also honoured Malaysia by rating it so highly.
“I dont feel lonely at all. In fact, I feel in very good company,” he said when delivering his keynote address at the Invest Malaysia 2015 here, yesterday.
“There has been some talks in Malaysia lately about how it can be lonely telling the truth. Well, I can tell you that I don’t feel lonely standing here in front of you all today,” said Najib who received a standing ovation from the delegates.
Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin was also present at the event.
The Prime Minister said that given the well-known stability and growth of Malaysia under the present government, he was equally confident that he would be able to look forward to the pleasure of their company, both next year and for the years to come.
Earlier Najib said that Malaysia’s economic fundamentals were strong and it was on track to achieve its goal of reaching high income nation status by 2020.
Bloomberg, he said had rated Malaysia as the world’s fifth most promising emerging market in 2015 and the only Asean country in its top 10. Meanwhile the IMF and the World Bank have recently issued reports showing Malaysia near the top of the rankings for competitiveness and ease of doing business.
“We are ranked alongside Asia’s developed markets, such as Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore, by the Asian Corporate Governance Association. — Bernama
