AMUNTAI, South Kalimantan: The North Hulu SUngau Environmental Management Agency (BPLH) will tighten supervision on industrial waste disposal to ensure a safe environment from dangerous pollution, Antaranews reported.

North Hulu Sungai (HSU) BPLH head Hermani Johan here on Sunday said any company or industry obliges to secure environmental permit, the environmental management scheme (UKL) and environmental monitoring scheme (UPL).

“There have been many big businesses securing of this environmental permit, so that the company’s activities related to environmental pollution are always supervised,” said Hermani.

Related to glass and aluminum waste, he said, it usually resold by business owners like furniture to collectors because the price is quite expensive. However, small businesses sometimes let aluminum, steel and glass waste in the vicinity of business location and disrupting neighborhoods.

Environmental disturbance permit or HO (Hinder Ordinance) license, he explained, is a license for a business that has the potential to cause harm, loss and disruption for the people around the place of business.

But, he said, specifically for the HO licensing process is not a task of BPLH for issuing it.
