SIBU: Priority has always been given to the welfare of armed forces personnel in East Malaysia, Army Chief General Tan Sri Raja Mohamed Affandi Raja Mohamed Noor said.

“We always ensure that your welfare and the welfare of your family are taken care of.

“For instance, we’ll soon build 126 houses in Oya for you,” he told soldiers when breaking fast in Masjid Al-Hidayah at
the 3rd Battalion Royal Rangers Regiment Camp in Oya here yesterday.

At the same time, he exhorted them to continue giving their best to the nation and its people.

Speaking at the same function, First Malaysian Infantry Division Commander Major General Datuk Stephen Mundaw thanked Affandi for joining his men in the breaking of fast and handing out contributions to orphans.

Also present were Eastern Field Command Commander Lt Gen Datuk Mohd Zaki, assistant chief of staff of the human resources branch Major General Dato Shahrani Mohd Sani, assistant chief of staff of the planning and development branch Major General Dato Abdul Halim Jalal and Ninth Infantry Brigade Commander Brigadier General Abdul Rahim Sebeli.
