SIBU: The hunt is on for a man who is said to have molested a four-year-old girl inside the toilet of a kindergarten here recently, with the local police engaging help from the public in the search.

The case came to light when the girl complained of stomach ache and pain in her private parts to her mother on July 31, but the latter dismissed it as nothing serious.

However when the girl returned home the next day with the same condition, the mother got a little worried. She took her daughter to a clinic, where the examination showed that there were injuries in the girl’s private parts corresponding to signs of sexual contact.

The 40-year-old mother was then advised to lodge a police report, which she did on Aug 3, bringing along her daughter to the station. She told police that the said molester might have inserted his fingers into her daughter’s private parts, causing the injuries.

Following the report, two men were brought in for questioning but were later released after police found them to have no connection with the case.

A police spokesperson said they had spoken with the kindergarten authorities, as well as sent the girl for another medical examination.

Sibu police chief ACP Mohd Kamal Kordi, when contacted, confirmed having received the report.
